Pediatric Dentistry
2+
Years
A pediatric dentist has an extra two years of specialized training beyond dental school.
Special Needs
special Care
A pediatric dentist is qualified to provide unparalled care to special needs children.
A pediatric dentist is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years. A strong foundation of preventative care can avoid future dental problems.
From bright colored walls, toys and books to kid sized chairs and equipment a pediatric dental office seeks to engage a child from the first visit. A pediatric dentist is trained an additional two years beyond dental school to manage the growth and development of a child from infancy through adolescence including children with special health care needs.
Who We Are
Special Skills
In the event a child requires dental treatment either for cleanings or fillings or oral trauma, the pediatric dentist and her staff can help. Pediatric dental offices have the skills to treat baby teeth and growing permanent teeth. This knowledge includes guiding a child's behavior through dental treatment and, if necessary, advanced techniques such as sedation and hospital dentistry.
What We Do
The pediatric dental office treats children exclusively and this begins with the age one visit. The AAPD and the AAP and the ADA all recommend a child's first visit with the eruption of the first tooth or the child's first birthday. Just as a child's pediatrician examines general wellness, the pediatric dentist and her staff examine the child's mouth and teeth. In addition, this first visit is an opportunity to discuss home care, diet, and dental development with caregivers. The pediatric dental office is a home for managing oral health.
